Global industrial and aerospace manufacturer and service provider Barnes Group has signed a long-term aerospace supply agreement with UTC Aerospace Systems, a division of United Technologies.

Under the deal, Barnes Group will provide nacelle inlet bulkheads for the Airbus A320neo family of aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney’s PW1100G-JM PurePower engines.

In addition, Barnes Group will be the sole supplier of the pylon forward secondary structure to UTC Aerospace Systems for the Airbus A350 family, as well as nacelle inlet bulkheads for Embraer’s E2 planes, Mitsubishi Regional Jet, and Bombardier C Series aircraft.

Separately, UTC Aerospace Systems opened a new materials and process engineering (MPE) laboratory in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, US, to support additive manufacturing or 3D printing technology.

The laboratory will produce metal and plastic engineering development parts and high-temperature composites to build carbon-carbon and silicon carbide-based composites for aerospace sector.

The products to be produced in the new facility will be used in aircraft brakes and nanomaterials to build light-weight metal matrix and polymer composites for several applications.
