ST Aerospace will provide a further three years of maintenance services to Copa Airlines under a renewed contract.

ST Aerospace will undertake maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of the Copa Airlines fleet of 28 Boeing 737 NextGen and 15 Embraer E-190 aircraft, and 11 E-190 aircraft from Copa-owned Aero República.

Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron said that working with ST Aerospace in Panama had helped Copa achieve greater efficiency in aircraft maintenance.

“This translates into savings of time and costs of transfer for our aircraft maintenance, which allows better fleet management for our operations,” Heilbron said.

“This agreement enables us to continue developing Panama as a key aerospace maintenance centre in Latin America.”

The services to Copa will include major inspections such as C checks, modifications and painting and will be carried out near the Tocumen International Airport, the carrier’s hub.

The current agreement renews and expand the scope of the original agreement signed in August 2006 that covered the maintenance of 22 Boeing 737 aircraft.
