TTx

American aircraft company Cessna, a subsidiary of the US conglomerate Textron, has completed its first international delivery of the new Cessna TTx to a customer in Thailand.

Cessna claims that TTx, which was certified in July, is the world’s fastest commercially produced and certified fixed-gear single-engine aircraft.

Designed particularly for comfort and speed, the TTx is a high-performance composite aircraft developed for advanced pilots, with progressive technology, up-market interiors and performance similar to a jet aircraft.

It is the first aircraft to feature the Garmin G2000 avionics system, comprising a glass cockpit with dual 14.1in high-definition displays and touchscreen controls.

Cessna TTx business leader Brian Steele said: "The teams at Cessna and Garmin have successfully redefined cockpit capabilities with the integration of the intuitive G2000 avionics system."

The aircraft also features an operating ceiling of 25,000ft, along with an optional Flight into Known Icing (FIKI) system that enables pilots to file flight plans for varying weather conditions.

It has a 310-horsepower TSIO-550-C six-cylinder engine supplied by Continental Motors, and the three-blade constant-speed metal propeller from McCauley.

The TTx has a 1,250nm range, making the aircraft capable of non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Houston or Bangkok, Thailand to Kolkata, India.

Cessna single engine/propeller aircraft senior vice-president Jodi Noah said the first delivery of the TTx to an international customer was an important milestone for every employee involved in the programme.

"This delivery is proof that the appeal of the TTx is not constrained by lines on a map, and that this aircraft is perfect for true aviators," Noah said.
