Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1000G engines will power 40 firm orders for Bombardier CS300 jetliners from Republic Airways. The order also includes an option for 40 more aircraft and up to six spare engines.

Each CSeries aircraft is powered by two PurePower PW1000G engines that provide 21,000lb of thrust and reduce fuel burn, environmental emissions, engine noise and operating costs.

The PW1000G is equipped with a gear system separating the engine fan from the low-pressure compressor and turbine, allowing each of the modules to operate at their optimum speeds.

These features enable increased efficiency, translating to fewer engine stages and parts for lower weight and reduced maintenance.

Pratt & Whitney will also provide the carrier with maintenance services for the engines for a period of 15 years.

The CSeries is expected to enter into service in 2013.
