France-KLM has signed a letter of intent to sell two new Boeing cargo 777 aircraft to FedEx.

The new freighters have not yet been delivered to Air France and the sale will not affect its cargo operation, which is currently dependent on five cargo aircraft, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The airliner has decided to reduce its cargo capacity in response to the downturn, and plans to bring the cargo division to break-even levels in FY 2011-2012.

The price of each craft is estimated to be between $252.5m and $260.5m.
