Airbus will deliver ten A320 family aircraft to Yemenia Airlines under a new contract.

The A320s are single-aisle aircraft that can fly up 3,700nm at a speed of Mach 0.82.

The airliner will be produced in a two-class configuration with capacity for 138 economy passengers and 12 business-class passengers.

The aircraft will replace Yemenia’s existing fleet of single-aisle and wide-body aircraft, and expand its regional services to the Gulf States, Middle East, Africa, India and southern Europe.

Yemenia chairman and CEO Abdulkhalek Al-Kadi said the buy would add to their modernisation programme.

“Very soon, we will have a totally new-generation fleet, which will strengthen our competitiveness,” he said.

The air carrier has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for the A320s at the Dubai Air Show.
