Boeing has revealed a new constant resolution visual system (CRVS) to be used for simulation applications.

CRVS provides a high-resolution out-the-window view for training systems and for general visualisation applications.

The system’s design uses fewer projectors than currently existing high-resolution displays (HD) enabling lower acquisition and support costs. The HD format can be used with a range of commercial off-the-shelf projectors and an array of image generators.

Boeing Training Systems & Services vice president Mark McGraw said the CRVS offers the same high resolution throughout the entire viewing area, providing an uninterrupted field of view and unvarying target acuity.

The visual system can be used in fast-jets, rotorcrafts and for ground-based training along with visualisations for presentations, virtual prototyping and analysis.

The first CRVS will be production-ready in early 2010.
