GE Aviation will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the CF34-10E engine fleet that powers Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras aircraft.

The 15-year contract will cover MRO support for 36 firm orders and four leased Embraer 190/195 aircraft.

The CF34-10 can produce between 18,000lb and 20,000lb of thrust and features a wide-chord fan blade for higher thrust and high tolerance to foreign object damage, 3D aerodynamic design airfoils, a single annular low-emissions combustor and a single-stage high-pressure turbine.

Azul Linhas Aereas business and corporate affairs vice-president Gerald Lee said that with this OnPoint solution agreement, GE will be responsible for managing Azul’s engine maintenance needs so that Azul Linhas can focus all of its attention on operating the airline and satisfying its customers.

Azul Linhas is a new domestic airline in Brazil that opened in 2008 offering multiple non-stop daily flights between Brazil’s main cities.
