EADS has partnered with the Russian Academy of Sciences and the St Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPb SPU) to encourage innovation in the fields of aerospace research and technology (R&T).

Under the long-term agreement, the industry and academia partners will identify specific R&T projects in areas such as advanced simulation capabilities, virtual testing, flight physics, structure and noise reduction.

A new research council will be created under the agreement and will propose specific projects in line with the requirements.

EADS chief technical officer Jean Botti said that the company is committed to on-going R&T partnership with Russia as a key player in research and technology.

“R&T initiatives are an important element of cooperation between EADS and Russia, along with titanium deliveries and joint production programmes,” Botti said.

The firm’s Russian technology office will facilitate the projects with the Russian partners.
