AsiaSat’s AsiaSat-5 communications satellite has been shipped to Baikonur Space Centre, Kazakhstan, for launch aboard a Proton Breeze M launch vehicle in early to mid-August.

The fixed satellite services spacecraft will offer television broadcast, telephone and VSAT networks across the Asia Pacific region.

The satellite carries 26 C-band transponders that will expand AsiaSat 2’s pan–Asian coverage.

The satellite also carries 14 Ku-band transponders that will boost coverage for East and South Asia.
