Turkish Airlines has ordered Trent 700EP engines from Rolls-Royce to power seven aircraft in a deal worth $470m.

The engine order will support the carrier in expanding its fleet and improving its economics, efficiency and environmental performance.

Turkish Airlines chairman Candan Karlitekin said that the engines will power the Turkish Airbus A330.

The 72,000lb thrust capability of the engine improves performance on the A330 by a further 1.3%, Rolls-Royce says.

The deliveries will begin in 2010.
