Goodrich Corporation has opened a new facility in China that will provide complete engine assemblies to the new Airbus A320 final assembly line in China (FALC).

The facility has been set up as an interim location. A 170,000ft² permanent facility will be set up in 2010 in Tianjin, in the vicinity of Airbus’s FALC facility.

The present 50,000ft² facility will support nacelle and thrust reverser equipment, and provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in the region.

Goodrich Aerostructures president Greg Peters said that the workshop will supplement their MRO footprint in Asia, currently centreed in Singapore, to support customers in the fast-growing Chinese market.

The setup will also become Goodrich’s headquarters for its supply chain activities in China.
