Intelsat is planning to launch 11 satellites between now and 2012 to enhance the type and amount of satellite capacity available to Asia-Pacific media, networking and government clients.

Five out of the 11 – Intelsat 17, 18, 19, 20 and 22 – will offer better capacity for C-band and Ku-band, voice and video services, direct-to-home and other network service applications.

The satellites will serve Russia and Asia, the Pacific Islands, the Western US and Australia. It will also offer services to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company has already upgraded two of its teleports to provide better services under its current fleet investment plan.
