General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies will deliver additional satellite communications earth terminals and support services for the US Army’s WIN-T (warfighter information network-tactical) programme.

The $119m contract order includes 293 satellite transportable terminals (STT), six unit hub SATCOM trucks (UHST) and 534 Ka-band upgrade kits and spares.

The STT terminals will allow network operation over Ku or Ka-band satellite frequencies. The UHST unit hubs will provide Ku or Ka-band access and more modem capacity.

Both systems are interoperable with SATCOM units currently used by the army, hence providing it mobile tactical SATCOM operations.

The deal brings the total value of the WIN-T programme to $378m.

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, part of General Dynamics C4 Systems, supplies emergency, strategic and tactical satellite ground terminals.
