Russia is in need of carrier rockets to accomplish all space launches scheduled for 2011, Roscosmos space agency chief Anatoly Perminov has said.

“We have a number of spacecraft that should be launched this year, but we do not have enough carrier rockets,” he said.

Russia has 48 space launches, including nine missions to the International Space Station by Soyuz and Progress carrier rockets, planned for 2011.

In 2010, the country carried out 31 launches, 15 more than the US.
