Magellan Aerospace has secured a contract from Airbus to supply detail components for A350 XWB passenger jets, which is expected to provide more than $20m in revenue over ten years.

Magellan Aerospace will supply complex machined aluminium lithium detail components and delivery to the final assembly line in Toulouse, France.

Production will take place at Magellan’s facilities in Bournemouth, UK, and the first deliveries of the contracted 800 ship sets will be made in April 2011.

Magellan’s president and chief executive Jim Butyniec said, “This [work] package, together with Magellan’s existing A350 XWB work on the centre wing box and the pylon secondary structure, augments its position on this exciting new programme.”

The A350 XWB is part of Airbus’s newest generation of passenger jets made with advanced materials. It will seat between 250 and 350 passengers.
