United Technologies subsidiary UTC Aerospace Systems has signed a letter of intent to enter a strategic collaboration with Aernnova Aerospace to develop aircraft structural composites.

The companies will focus on advancing the design and development of aircraft structural composites, including wings, flight controls, and integrated fuselage-nacelle designs for the growing commercial supersonics market.

UTC Aerospace Systems Aerostructures president Marc Duvall said: “We are excited about the advancements and opportunities this agreement will bring to aerostructures, specifically around advanced composite structures.

Aernnova Aerospace is a design and build supplier of aerostructures, components and engineering services.

The company focuses on the development of composites and has expertise in empennages, fuselage sections, wings, pressure bulkheads and doors.

UTC Aerospace Systems Aerostructures is a provider of engine nacelle systems, pylons, and other engineered structures.

With the collaboration, the combined expertise of the companies in design and industrialisation is expected to provide competitive and advanced solutions to the aerospace industry, including commercial, business jet and military original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers.

In addition to the partnership, UTC Aerospace Systems has entered another five-year agreement with Wizz Air to deliver thrust reverser overhaul services for the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320ceo aircraft.
