Global airline alliance Star Alliance has extended its partnership with information technology services and consulting company TCS to enhance the travel experience for customers.

As part of the expanded partnership, TCS will deploy AWS technology in the areas of data analytics, business intelligence and machine learning.

The solution will enable member airlines to provide real-time, predictive capabilities and faster, more informed decision-making for the 654 million customers.

It will also help improve the business performance and innovative ability of Star Alliance members.

Star Alliance CEO Jeffrey Goh said: “As we look to adapt and scale our business in response to the global pandemic, it has never been more important that we improve operational efficiencies and transform our global IT infrastructure to become more agile.

“With TCS, we look forward to accelerating the development of new enterprise applications and customer features and deploying machine learning models, to allow us to introduce new services that reimagine the global travel experience for the millions of airline customers we serve across the world.”

The latest collaboration extension builds on a strategic partnership exceeding 15 years between the two companies.

TCS Europe travel transportation and hospitality head Arun Pradeep said: “Having transformed Star Alliance’s IT with our cloud-first strategy using AWS, we are now helping them unlock further value by harnessing capabilities around advanced analytics and machine learning to deliver higher levels of personalisation and superior customer experiences.”

Last month, Star Alliance partnered with digital engineering and technology solutions provider Nagarro to upgrade its flight-and-fare search user interface (UI) and a single biometric facial recognition system.
