Unmanned aircraft system (UAS) service provider and manufacturer Silent Falcon UAS Technologies has selected Silvus Technologies as its partner for communications systems.

As part of the partnership, Silent Falcon’s UAS has been incorporated with Silvus’ advanced technology MIMO MANET Streamcaster communications systems.

Known as Silent Falcon, the solar-electric, fixed-wing, long-endurance, long-range UAS has been designed for commercial, public safety, military and security applications.

The communications systems also include the new SF ATAK Field Observer kit, which is capable of providing real-time live streaming videos with map overlays on to ground operators.

The SF ATAK Field Observer kit will help the US Department of Interior in fighting wildfire this season.

Silent Falcon chairman and CEO said John Brown said:  “Our partnership with Silvus Technologies has allowed Silent Falcon to greatly expand the capabilities and reliability of our Silent Falcon system. The Silvus products are easy to operate, integrate well with the Silent Falcon system, and provide rock-solid communications in the most difficult conditions.

“And we have taken these capabilities a step further with the introduction of the SF ATAK Field Observer Kit, further demonstrating the flexibility of the Silent Falcon system and the Silvus StreamCaster MN-MIMO MANET technology.”

Silvus MIMO MANET communications systems has already proven its effectiveness in various UAS long-range commercial applications.

The system has also been used during intelligence, surveillance, and rescue and long-range border patrol missions.

Silvus Technologies unmanned systems director Kasey Cooper said: “With five hours of flight time and an array of payload sensor options, Silent Falcon needed a low-SWaP radio capable of delivering high-bandwidth communications over great distances.”
