VistaJet inks deal for 142 Bombardier Global jets

Switzerland-based business jet operator VistaJet has entered into an agreement with Bombardier for 142 Global business jets worth approximately $8bn, eclipsing the Canadian aircraft manufacturer’s recent $7.3bn deal signed with NetJets.

The deal comprises a $3.1bn firm order for 56 large-cabin business jets with an option for an additional 86 Global aircraft.

Included in the firm order are 25 Global 5000, 25 Global 6000 and six Global 8000 jets, with options for 40 Global 5000, 40 Global 6000 and six Global 8000 executive aircraft.

It marks the largest business aircraft deal for the Montreal-based aeroplane manufacturer Bombardier.

VistaJet founder and chairman Thomas Flohr said that the latest purchase formed part of the company’s expansion strategy to make business aviation more accessible to emerging markets.

"This order is the most significant milestone for VistaJet and is a testimony to our successful strategy that focuses on global coverage," Flohr said.

The new aeroplanes will be used to serve Russia, China, the Middle East and African regions, as well as the eastern and western coasts of the US.

Bombardier Business Aircraft president Steve Ridolfi added: "Our Global aircraft are perfect for VistaJet’s business strategy to deliver the ultimate business jet family to all corners of the world."

Global 5000 aircraft features Bombardier Vision Flight Deck and can fly 9,630km, while the Global 6000 jetliner features substantial cabin size and its Bombardier Vision flight deck can accommodate eight passengers and three to four crew.

Featuring four-zone cabin and 20% more cabin space, Global 7000 is scheduled to enter service in 2016, while Global 8000 can travel at speeds of up to 14,631km.
