Schiebel Camcopter S-100

Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS), incorporated with a Cineflex camera to perform aerial cinematography, has completed its first flight.

The company has carried out shooting with the UAS, which is equipped with a Cineflex camera by capturing shots of the motor cross bikes and a rally car, under the supervision of Brain Farm Digital Cinema and Snaproll Media.

Schiebel Group chairman, Hans Georg Schiebel, said: "The Camcopter S-100 UAS can carry a variety of cameras suitable and capable of providing the high definition accuracy to modern film and television directors."

"Its ability to hover and precisely maneuver for extended periods of time, offering a truly stable platform, provides another dimension of artistic freedom from a basic set to extreme situations beyond manned limits," Schiebel added.

The Cineflex is a multi-axis coordinated gimbal control system offering layered isolation, steering, and enhanced correctional movements to alleviate an extensive selection of precision optics to a sub-pixel level.

S-100 UAS will be navigated through pre-programmed GPS waypoints or operated with a pilot control unit, while point-and-click graphical user interface is used to plan and control the missions.

The new aerial cinematography solution will be unveiled at NAB Show in Las Vegas, US, this year.
