Rockwell Collins has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russia’s Transas Aviation to build components to retrofit Russian aircraft platforms.

Under the terms of the deal, Rockwell Collins will further expand its presence in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), providing improved access to in-region customers, engineering support and certification agencies.

The agreement will provide Transas Aviation with access to Rockwell Collins’ global business development capabilities, engineering and certification know-how, along with the global avionics manufacturer’s service and support network.

"Rockwell Collins will further expand its presence in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States."

Rockwell Collins Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EuMEA) vicepresident and managing director Claude Alber said: "Together, we will deliver robust solutions for Russian aircraft by leveraging the market-leading expertise of both companies."

Transas Aviation general director Igor Strokin said that the company is pleased to establish this collaboration with Rockwell Collins, one of the global leaders in aviation electronic solutions.

"I am sure that combining intellectual potential and marketing strengths of our two companies will allow us to create unique and compelling offerings for domestic and CIS clients," Strokin said.

Transas Aviation provides aviation services for Russian and international fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter operators.

The latest MoU marks the first formal agreement announced between a major global avionics manufacturer and a Russian-based aviation solutions provider.
