Thales Group has secured a contract from China Eastern Airlines to provide its avionic systems for Airbus A320NEO, Boeing 737NG and MAX aircraft.

Under the contract, the company will supply its flight management system (FMS), Thales/ACSS traffic and terrain collision avoidance system, the low-range radio altimeter, and single configuration head-up display for China Eastern’s 70 Airbus A320NEO.

It will also equip more than 110 Boeing 737NG and MAX with the low-range radio altimeter.

“Thales considers China to be one of its most important markets for avionics components."

Thales Avionics Services Worldwide activities vice-president Daniel Malka said: “Thales considers China to be one of its most important markets for avionics components.

“Chinese airlines have extremely aggressive growth strategies to meet the requirements of growing demand and they need an avionics supplier that can deliver fast, and guarantee service excellence.

“This is why our leadership position in China is one of our strongest proof points to demonstrate the level of product maturity and service excellence Thales brings.”

China Eastern has been using Thales/ACSS products, with the Thales FMS system being the highest selling product with a market share in China of more than 90%.

The T³CAS solution features traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) with Class A terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), and Mode S transponder updated for DO-260B with full ADS-B in/out capability.
