Citation M2

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved the Cessna Aircraft’s Citation M2 business jet.

Certification allows the company to begin delivery of the aircraft.

This move comes just two weeks after Cessna’s Citation Sovereign+ received EASA certification.

Cessna Jets vice-president Chris Hearne said: "We have had significant interest from European customers for the Citation M2, due to its size, speed and range.

"This news, coupled with the recent EASA certification of the Citation Sovereign+, means that customers in Europe have more options to meet their business aviation needs within the Citation family."

"With a maximum cruise speed of 404k, the Citation M2 has 460 miles per hour of airspeed and a range of 1,580nm."

With a maximum cruise speed of 404k, the Citation M2 has 460 miles per hour of airspeed, a range of 1,580nm, and its manufacturers state it can climb to climb 41,000ft in 24 minutes.

Powered by two Williams FJ44 engines, the Citation M2 is certified for single-pilot operation with accommodation for seven passengers.

The aircraft cockpit design features Cessna’s Intrinzic flight deck powered by Garmin G3000 avionics.

The Citation M2 received the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in December 2013, and 23 aircraft have been delivered through the first quarter of 2014.

Cessna is set to launch new Citation products, including Citation CJ3+, Citation X+ and Citation Latitude in the coming year.

More than 6,600 Citations have been delivered to customers worldwide since the business jet entered into service in 1972.
