BBJ Max

Boeing has launched its new Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) MAX family of aircraft after securing the first order from an undisclosed customer.

The order includes one BBJ MAX 8, which is based on 737 MAX 8.

Boeing Business Jets president Steve Taylor said that an existing BBJ customer has become the first to select the aircraft.

"The BBJ MAX provides more room, longer range and emits fewer emissions than its nearest competition, making it an ideal choice for today’s BBJ customers," Taylor said.

An improved version of BBJ Family, BBJ Max will feature larger cabins, and will be equipped with new CFM International LEAP-1B engines and other aerodynamic improvements including advanced technology winglets.

"We expect a large demand for the BBJ MAX, particularly for those BBJ owners who want to fly farther and more efficiently and still maintain the exceptional comfort of a BBJ."

The BBJ MAX 8 will deliver a range of 6,325nm, an increase of more than 800nm, compared with the BBJ2, while maintaining BBJ advantages of lower cabin altitude, reliability and product support across the globe.

In addition to BBJ Max 8, the new BBJ family will include the BBJ MAX 9, based on the 737 MAX 9, and is expected to have a 6,255nm (11,584 km) range, with plans for a BBJ MAX 7 also being studied.

"We expect a large demand for the BBJ MAX, particularly for those BBJ owners who want to fly farther and more efficiently and still maintain the exceptional comfort of a BBJ," Taylor noted.

The first BBJ MAX will be delivered in 2018 without an interior, which a completion centre of the customer’s choice will install.
