Airbus Defense and Space has launched the AuroraGlobal high-throughput services for government, maritime and enterprise markets at Satellite 2014, a conference focused on satellite communications in Washington DC, US.

Launched to address the increasing bandwidth demand, the new portfolio of high throughput services comprises Ku, X, and Ka-bands, and provides improved throughput without the need to change antenna systems.

Airbus Defense and Space Intelligence & Security head of communications Evert Dudok said: "With this offer, Airbus Defense and Space is bringing its customers one-step closer to next-generation satcom, whether it be military or commercial satellites such as Inmarsat’s Global Xpress and Intelsat’s Epic NG."

"With this offer, Airbus Defense and Space is bringing its customers one-step closer to next-generation satcom."

The new portfolio can provide improved X-band capabilities and performance for civil and military government purposes, while increasing throughput nearly four times more than current services using existing terminals.

It also enables increased throughput in new smaller terminals, in line with growing operational requirements.

The customers in the maritime market will benefit from the latest Ku-band VSAT service without the need to replace the existing antenna, according to the company.

The maritime VSAT service comes with unlimited L-band back-up service, along with the new XChange platform, without having to invest in a new VSAT antenna.

In the Enterprise vertical markets, customers can take advantage of the latest technology fully compatible with high throughput satellites following the recent contract with Newtec.

Customers will also have access to new network hubs on Airbus Defense and Space’s teleports, optimising frequency bands and offering throughput up to 150Mbps.

As part of the new offer, the company will also deliver Global Xpress high-speed broadband services through its distribution channels across the world in the near future.
