US aerospace and defence company General Dynamics has delivered the Gulfstream G500 high-speed business jet to its first European customer.

The undisclosed charter operator took the delivery of the aircraft from Gulfstream Aerospace headquarters in Savannah, Georgia.

The G500 aircraft is currently operating across North America, Brazil, the Middle East and Europe, and has secured certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency earlier last month.

Gulfstream president Mark Burns said: “We are excited about making G500 deliveries to Europe.

“Since the introduction of the jet in 2014, customers around the world remain impressed and enthusiastic about the innovative cabin, next-generation technology, including the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck, and high performance, speed and range capability of the aircraft.

“As the G500 fleet continues to grow in Europe, and around the world, its advanced technology raises the bar for business aviation.”

Gulfstream’s G500 is capable of flying 8,149km at a speed of Mach 0.90 and 9,630km at Mach 0.85.

The aircraft is equipped with a Symmetry flight deck and the new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA engine.

The flight deck features an active control sidesticks, which are electronically linked to safety and situational awareness in the cockpit.

The jet also features touchscreen technology and a data concentration network.

Featuring a customised interior design, G500 cabin offers 100% fresh air, 14 Gulfstream panoramic windows, and low sound levels.

Wholly owned by General Dynamics, Gulfstream has delivered more than 2,800 aircraft to customers worldwide since 1958.
