United Technologies Corporation has secured gross proceeds of $3bn through the offering of senior notes.

Due 2028, the senior notes will yield an annual interest rate of 4.125%.

UTC has also raised $2.25bn through the public offering of senior notes.

The notes will bear an annual interest rate of 3.65% until they mature in 2023.

Based in the US, UTC is specialised in the development of aircraft engines, safety systems, aerospace components and defence equipment.

US-based aerospace and defence services provider Ducommun has won a $200m contract from an undisclosed engine original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Ducommun will make use of its VersaCore Composite technology to produce nacelle components, which will be fitted on to the single-aisle commercial aircraft.

The product design and process development phase under the ten-year contract will be completed by 2019, while full-scale production is expected to begin in 2020.

Magellan Aerospace has reached an agreement with Pratt & Whitney to manufacture aluminium castings for the Next Generation Product Family (NGPF) of engines.

The next-generation engines will be fitted to aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo, Airbus A220, Embraer E2 series and Mitsubishi MRJ aircraft.

The aluminium components will be cast at Magellan’s production facilities in Haley, Ontario, Canada, and Glendale, Arizona, US.

The six-year agreement is expected to provide C$81m ($62.6m) in revenues to Magellan through 2023.

Arianespace has secured a contract from Spire for the launch of multiple small satellites aboard its Vega rocket.

The rocket will carry several CubeSats as part of the Small Spacecraft Mission Service proof of concept (POC) flight.

Based on the LEMUR2 CubeSat platform, the 5kg nanosatellites will have a service life from two to three years. The spacecraft will be placed 500km away in a Sun-synchronous orbit.

The deal also provides Spire options for subsequent Vega flights.

Based in the US, Spire offers aviation, maritime and weather data to its customers.

CFM International has reached an agreement with International Air Transport Association (IATA) to increase competition in the engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market.

CFM has adopted ‘Conduct Policies’ to allow its third-party engine components and MRO services providers of CFM56 and LEAP series engines to avail more opportunities, under the agreement.

It has also agreed to allow its CFM Engine Shop Manual licensees to use non-CFM parts.

The company will additionally offer third-party overhaul facilities and airlines a free access to the manual.

Boeing has signed a definitive agreement to acquire US-based small-satellite solutions company Millennium Space Systems in a transaction, whose financial details have not been disclosed.

Subject to customary conditions, the acquisition is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2018.

Millennium Space Systems will operate as a subsidiary of Boeing, upon completion of the transaction.

Boeing Phantom Works vice-president and general manager Mark Cherry will oversee the operations of the new subsidiary.

Wholly owned Orix subsidiary Orix Aviation Systems intends to acquire a 30% stake in Avolon for $2.2bn.

Based in Ireland, Avolon offers aircraft leasing services to the customers in aviation industry.

Orix will purchase the stake from Bohai Capital, a unit of HNA Group.
