Ireland-based aircraft leasing company CDB Aviation has confirmed an order to purchase 90 A320neo family aircraft from Airbus.

The order is a combination of an original purchase agreement signed in 2014 for 45 A320neo family aircraft and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) announced at this year’s Paris Airshow for an additional 30 A320neo and 15 A321neo planes.

CDB Aviation president and CEO Peter Chang said: “By confirming today’s order for 90 A320neos, we have doubled our overall order position for the aircraft family.

“CDB Aviation is now well positioned with a leading order book for the latest technology narrow-body aircraft to realise our aggressive fleet growth plan and further strengthen our ability to serve airline customers around the world with narrowbody fleet requirements.”

“By confirming today’s order for 90 A320neos, we have doubled our overall order position for the aircraft family.”

Airbus’ A320neo family of aircraft features a range of new technologies including new generation engines and Sharklets, which together is capable of saving at least 15% fuel at delivery and 20% by 2020.

Since the launch of the aircraft in 2010, Airbus has received more than 5,200 orders from 95 customers worldwide.

In a separate development, Airbus Helicopters has entered a new MoU with Falcon Aviation for the sale of three new H160 helicopters.

The deal marks the expansion of an original letter of intent (LOI) signed between the companies last May for a VIP version of the H160.
