US-based Astro Aerospace has purchased the assets of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft provider Passenger Drone for an undisclosed sum.

The drone develops an innovative aerial transport vehicle that aims to improve urban mobility, as well as offer a faster and safer mode of transport.

It is equipped with wide cabin glass design that encases the cockpit to optimise the travel experience by offering a 360° view of the surroundings.

The drone is made from carbon fibre and offers a range of benefits, including structural efficiency.

“We’re excited to take Astro’s technology and prototype and bring it to the general public.”

The drone’s fibre-optic technology is designed to minimise the aircraft weight magnetic interference.

Astro has also appointed Uavionix CEO and leading drone expert Paul Beard as a member of its board.

Astro Aerospace CEO Bruce Bent said: “We’re excited to take Astro’s technology and prototype and bring it to the general public, giving the opportunity to everyone who has dreamed of flying the ability to experience the thrill in a safe and controlled environment with the Astro Passenger Drone.”

Astro’s existing drone prototype has VTOL capabilities and features 16 individual rotors to optimise safety performance.

The eco-friendly and emission-free vehicle also includes touch flight control to enable passengers to fly the drone manually or autonomously.
