American Airlines has signed a deal with Embraer for the purchase of 15 E175 jets worth a total of $705m at current list prices.

To be equipped with 76 seats each, the aircraft will be operated by American Airlines Group’s subsidiary Envoy.

Of the total seats, 12 will be in First Class and 64 in Main Cabin, including Main Cabin Extra seats.

Deliveries of the aircraft are scheduled to be carried out in 2020.

Embraer Commercial Aviation North America sales and marketing vice-president Charlie Hillis said: “This new order from American Airlines continues to show the value that airlines place on our best-selling E175 aircraft.

“We are fully committed to providing fleet solutions that have a positive bottom line impact, and our E175 leads the charge with over 80% market share in the North American market.”

The new deal has brought the total number of order for the E175 jets placed by American Airlines with Embraer to 104.

It follows the most recent order placed in May. The $705m order covers 15 E175 jets with a 76-seat configuration.

The aircraft are expected to be delivered next year between March and November and will be operated by Envoy.

An aircraft manufacturer based in Brazil, Embraer is primarily engaged in the design, development and production of commercial aircraft with up to 150 seats. It also provides customer support and services.
