Airbus has announced the signing of firm contracts with undisclosed customers from three continents for the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition helicopter.

The helicopter is slated to be inducted into service in Latin America, North America and Asia Pacific in the next few months after being launched in January.

The ACH130 Aston Martin Edition, which is a special version of the ACH130, features a range of interior and exterior designs created by Aston Martin.

One of the orders for the aircraft was placed by an existing Airbus customer in New Zealand for private use and VIP charter.

The aircraft has already entered service with an undisclosed VIP customer in Guatemala.

The company also received an order from an undisclosed private customer in Canada. The order will be finished by workers in the UK, where Airbus manages and engineers this aircraft edition.

The aircraft is the result of more than year collaboration between the aeronautical designers at Airbus Corporate Helicopters (ACH) and the automotive designers at Aston Martin.

ACH head Frédéric Lemos said: “We are delighted with the market reaction to this superb new helicopter.

These orders across the world clearly demonstrate the excitement generated by our collaboration with Aston Martin.”

In August this year, Saudi Arabia-based Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) fully owned The Helicopter Company (THC) entered an agreement to acquire ten Airbus H125 helicopters as part of its plans to expand its fleet.

In July, Airbus Helicopters’ VSR700 unmanned aerial system (UAS) prototype successfully conducted its maiden free flight at a drone test centre near Aix-en-Provence in France.
