StandardAero Component Services is set to expand three of its primary maintenance, repair and operating supply (MRO) facilities in the US within this year to increase total capacity to 260,000ft².

More than $16m is expected to be invested as part of the expansion of the three facilities in Cincinnati and Hillsboro in Ohio, and Miami, Florida.

The investment will primarily be used in the construction and purchase of capital equipment.

StandardAero Components, Helicopters and Accessories president Rick Stine said: “We are making this commitment to grow our capacity to meet the continued demands of our customers, on both legacy platforms and next-generation engines, as well as to continue to provide the aerospace industry’s best delivery performance for component repair and manufacturing services.”

“These expanded capabilities also include dedicated processes for the repair, overhaul, and manufacturing of various component types to support our customers’ engine needs.”

Under the proposed expansion, 200,000ft² of additional workspace will be added to the Cincinnati site to accommodate component repair growth on new platforms, military and commercial engine component repair, as well as larger components.

The Miami site will receive 30,000ft² of new workspace and capital improvements such as a clean line, a vacuum furnace and water jet cleaning capabilities.

The expansion is expected to enable the facility to repair large engine cases.

StandardAero will complete a 30,000ft² of expansion to its Hillsboro site to support new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) production.

The expansion will bring the facility’s total manufacturing space to 115,000ft².

Stine further added: “These expanded capabilities also include dedicated processes for the repair, overhaul, and manufacturing of various component types to support our customers’ engine needs.”

In October last year, StandardAero revealed plans to expand the PT6A turboprop engine field services at its Houston Hobby Airport (KHOU) in Texas, US.

The expansion features various offerings to include PT6A engine ‘on-wing’ repairs, borescope inspections, hot section inspections, engine removal and installation.
