UTC Aerospace Systems has received a contract with British carrier easyJet to supply the wheels, carbon brakes and MRO support for the 68 new Airbus A320ceo aircraft.

Under this deal, UTC will deliver the equipment through its landing systems facility in Troy, Ohio.

UTC engineering and maintenance head Ian Davies said: "We are very pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with UTC Aerospace Systems who has supported our fleet since 2003.

"We look forward to optimising our maintenance and reliability with this equipment."

"The aircraft’s advanced technology includes the extensive use of weight-saving composites [and] an optimised wing that is 20% more efficient."

UTC will carry out MRO services at its facility in Hatfield, UK, a location near to easyJet’s home base.

UTC landing systems president Jim Wharton said: "This selection demonstrates easyJet’s confidence in our track record of providing quality products and services with the lowest total cost of ownership."

Last July, easyJet placed a $3.3bn order with CFM International for 270 engines to power its Airbus A320neo and A320ceo aircraft.

The order includes 70 CFM56-5B engines for A320ceo aircraft, and easyJet ordered 35 A320ceo airliners in July 2013.

The A320ceo aircraft are scheduled for delivery between now and 2017.

A320 aircraft typically accommodate 150 passengers in a two-class cabin. The aircraft’s advanced technology includes the extensive use of weight-saving composites, an optimised wing that is 20% more efficient than previous designs.

In addition, it features a centralised fault display for easier troubleshooting and lower maintenance costs.
