TAM Airlines has ordered 32 A320 aircraft from Airbus, comprising 22 A320neos and ten A320s.
The order follows a memorandum of understanding signed in February 2011.
The airline will decide on the type of engine at a later date.
TAM Airlines' vice-president of contracts and supply José Zaidan Maluf said: "As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our operational efficiency, these new A320s will allow us to keep a young fleet, reduce costs and further improve our environmental performance."
To date, TAM has ordered over 200 Airbus aircraft, including 27 A350-900s, and operates nearly 150 Airbus aircraft to 43 destinations within Brazil and 18 destinations throughout Europe, the US and South America.
