SAT

Swiss International Air Lines subsidiary Swiss Aviation Training (SAT) has introduced a new version of its Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) software for Airbus A320 technical training.

VMT is a maintenance simulator, which offers a 360° view of the entire aircraft and its individual components. The new version of the VMT offers realistic simulations of all the maintenance work on the A320.

The new VMT software tool uses laptop replacing the previous desktop version of the package, making the solution flexible. It also simplifies on-site training on the customer’s premises.

SAT CEO Manfred Brennwald said that the main objective at SAT is to devise the most efficient and cost-effective training product for each individual customer.

"The upgraded tool offers sharp images of various cockpit displays with sizeable zoom."

"In doing so, we aim to continue to set industry standards and remain one of the top addresses worldwide for advanced and efficient training," Brennwald said.

Using VMT, customers can reduce the amount of work to do on real aircraft, which is often difficult and expensive.

It supports aircraft maintenance procedures such as exchanging line replaceable units, which are restricted on aircraft for safety reasons.

The upgraded tool offers sharp images of various cockpit displays with sizeable zoom.

In order to optimise the trainees’ response, it also allows generation of multiple different error messages to several simple and complex maintenance scenarios making the training cost-effective.
