Qatar Airways A350 XWB

Qatar Airways has selected UTC Aerospace Systems to provide wheels and carbon brakes for its 43 Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Under the contract, UTC Aerospace Systems’ landing systems facility in Troy, Ohio will supply the equipment.

The A350 XWB carbon brakes incorporate DURACARB carbon heat sink material, which is claimed to offer cost savings through fewer brake removals and associated maintenance and overhaul activities.

Qatar Airways received its first A350-900 aircraft in December last year.

The state-owned flag carrier, Qatar Airways operates flights to more than 140 destinations from its base at the new Hamad International Airport, including to Africa, Central Asia, Europe, Far East, South Asia, Middle East, North America, South America and Oceania.
