A320 simulator

Mexican low-cost airline Volaris has selected ‘Training By Airbus’ to offer A320 flight simulator training and courses in Miami and Mexico.

The move is part of an agreement that includes more than 25,000 flight training hours for 500 pilots.

Training under the deal for Volaris’s pilots has already started at the Airbus Training Center in Miami, while flight training in Mexico City will begin in 2015.

With the new facility, Airbus aims to leverage the expertise of its Miami Training Center to establish a satellite flight training operation in Mexico City, a move that will mark the opening of the first Airbus flight training centre in Latin America.

Volaris CEO Enrique Beltranena said: "The training agreement will offer our crews state-of-the-art flight simulator technology in conjunction with experienced Airbus instructors."

Volaris is an all-Airbus fleet operator, and has ordered a total of 74 aircraft to date, with 47 A320 Family aircraft currently in operation.

Airbus customer services senior vice-president Didier Lux said: "Serving Volaris first in Miami and then in Mexico City allows us to be closer to the customer and to directly support their growth by greatly increasing the productivity of their pilots and maintenance personnel."
