Lufthansa Technik to provide component support for NEOS’ Boeing 787 fleet

Lufthansa Technik has secured a contract from Italian airline NEOS to provide comprehensive component support for the carrier’s new fleet of three Boeing 787 aircraft.

The new total component support (TCS) contract is an extension of a similar deal that began in 2002.

The TCS will include component repair and overhaul, as well as pooling and home base lease services to support NEOS’ daily operations.

Lufthansa Technik’s facilities in Frankfurt and Hamburg, Germany, will implement the newly signed contract.

“With Lufthansa Technik, we found an experienced partner for Boeing 787 component support."

The company will also provide independent quality assurance under an Aircraft Production Inspection Programme for NEOS’ three new 787-9 aircraft at Boeing’s site in Seattle, Washington, US.

NEOS technical director Marco Brusa said: “As the first 787 operator in Italy, we are very proud to welcome this aircraft type to our fleet.

“With Lufthansa Technik, we found an experienced partner for Boeing 787 component support.

“They have demonstrated outstanding service reliability and provided a very competitive offer. Therefore, we look forward to our future cooperation.”

NEOS expects to receive the first of its three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft by this December.

In July, Lufthansa Technik signed a long-term TCS contract with EL AL Israel Airlines to provide component support services for the airline’s future Boeing 787 fleet.

The deal is expected to ensure global availability of Boeing 787 aircraft parts for EL AL Israel Airlines.
