Germany-based airlines Lufthansa has taken delivery of its second A320neo, which is set to make its first commercial flight.

The commercial flight will take off as LH072 to Dusseldorf, making Dusseldorf another destination for the A320neo along with Hamburg, Berlin and Munich.

Manufactured by Airbus, the A320neo is equipped with new engines and has better aerodynamics that helps reduce noise and emissions.

The new PW1100G engines, which have been incorporated in the A320neo, are said to be 15% more fuel efficient than current comparable aircraft models and per passenger produces 20% less cost.

The Lufthansa Group has placed an order for a total of 116 neo aircraft, 45 of which are the larger version of A321neo.

The new aircraft, valued at $13.3bn according to the list price, are expected to deploy for Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines

This year Lufthansa expects to take delivery of a total of five A320neo.

The carrier received the first A320neo family aircraft in January.

According to Airbus, the A320neo family that includes new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices has received around 4,500 orders from nearly 80 customers since its launch in 2010.
