A320

Kuwait’s low-cost airline Jazeera Airways has taken delivery of a new Airbus A320 aircraft, as part of an order for 15 aircraft of the same model.

The airline has taken delivery of 13 Airbus A320 jets since 2005, with remaining two aircraft under the order scheduled to be delivered this month and in the end of May 2014.

Jazeera Airways Group chairman Marwan Boodai said that the new aircraft will be placed in operation for the passenger airline business Jazeera Airways .

"Having one of the Middle East’s youngest fleets is a core component to our customer offering," Boodai said.

"As accustomed, the aircraft passed through a diligent nine-month review process by our team, our partners, and an independent inspector whom we hire."

The new A320 is part of Jazeera’s plan to operate new and modern aircraft, and to take on new aircraft deliveries until next year in parallel with the country’s overall market growth.

It marks the second aircraft to be delivered out of three jets financed by the $90m structured loan facility, which was led by NBK and DVB Bank SE.

The first aircraft, funded by this facility, was delivered on 1 June.

Currently, there are more than 3,264 A320 jets in operation by airlines worldwide, with more than 3,446 aircraft scheduled for delivery in the next few years and an additional 6,468 in order.
