Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced plans to launch 83 satellites toward the end of this month using its PSLV-C37 launch vehicle.

Of the total satellites, 80 of them belong to Israel, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Switzerland and the US.

The INS-IA and INS-1B, as well as the Cartosat-2 series are the three Indian satellites.

"Our effort is to continuously increase."

Last June, ISRO launched 20 satellites and the Cartosat-2 series onboard the PSLV-C34 in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

ISRO chairman Kiran Kumar said: "We need more and more capacity, launch capacity. We are working toward that. Our effort is to continuously increase."

During the first half of this year, the space agency plans to launch four missions that include PSLV-C37 with 103 satellites on-board, GSLV-Mk-111 developmental flight with 3.2t GSAT-19E in March.

Two more missions will follow in the near future.

Last month, ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle launched the 1,235kg RESOURCESAT-2A Satellite from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota.

This satellite has a three-tier imaging system with advanced wide field sensor (AWiFS), linear imaging self scanner-3 (LISS-3) and linear imaging self scanner-4 (LISS-4) cameras.
