Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland joint venture (JV) HeliVert has secured a certificate of approval from the Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) for the production of the AW139 commercial helicopter.

The latest certificate is valid for a two-year period.

HeliVert CEO Alexander Kuznetsov said: "We are continuing to progress the HeliVert project in line with the joint plan adopted by our Italian and Russian shareholders."

HeliVert secured a one-year certificate of approval to produce five AW139 helicopters in May 2012, following an audit by the AR IAC; the production first helicopters began a month later.

"We are continuing to progress the HeliVert project in line with the joint plan adopted by our Italian and Russian shareholders."

The latest certificate has been issued following a repeat audit for certification of production in November 2013.

AgustaWestland CEO Daniele Romiti said: "We look forward to expanding the already significant success achieved by this model in Russia."

The AW139 commercial aircraft can be configured in several versions, including a VIP helicopter, carrying 12-15 passengers, or in other versions for transport, medical or emergency rescue work.

Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67C turboshaft engines, the helicopter has a cruising speed of 306km/h and range of 926km, with a maximum flight time of five hours.
