US-based integrated solutions and services provider Engility Holdings has won a $170m independent verification and validation (IV&V) contract from Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

The latest contract is a re-compete of Nasa’s systems and software assurance services contract, and will support the space agency’s missions to explore Earth and the universe, including future moon and Mars expeditions.

As part of the deal, Engility’s technical efforts will help Nasa procure, develop, deploy and operate solutions to meet challenging performance demands.

Engility will also use analytical techniques, security assessments and independent testing to ensure safe, reliable and secure operations of the system software that would be provided for various Nasa missions.

“This win continues a relationship with a Nasa programme that began more than 12 years ago."

The company will also provide specialised engineering services, including software, and safety and mission assurance, as well as secure coding and cybersecurity such as cyber vulnerability assessment and remediation.

The newly awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee, single-award, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract will be valid for five years.

Engility CEO Lynn Dugle said: “This win continues a relationship with a Nasa programme that began more than 12 years ago.

“Our talented IV&V experts are supporting significant national initiatives at leading-edge institutions, including Nasa’sflight centres, research centres, and laboratories as well as selected non-Nasa federal/state/local organisations with mission-critical software.”

In 2005, Nasa awarded the IV&V contract to TASC, ten years prior to being acquired by Engility.

TASC currently operates and supports its customers under the Engility brand.
