Legacy 600

Embraer Executive Jets has sold the first super-midsize Legacy 600, featuring new cabin interior and Honeywell Primus Elite avionics, to Germany-based business charter operator Air Hamburg.

The announcement on the sale was made at the 13th European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) event.

Air Hamburg serves European, Russian and Middle East destinations.

The delivery of the new Legacy 600 business jet is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013.

Embraer Executive Jets sales Europe, Africa, and Middle East vice-president Colin Steven said: "We have no doubt that passengers will appreciate the unparalleled combination of luxurious comfort, space and performance of the newly enhanced Legacy 600’s interior cabin."

Air Hamburg CEO Floris Helmers said that the operator received requests for charter flights to destinations that were out of reach with its existing fleet.

"Its limited baggage capacity and range made the step into the super-midsize category necessary to fulfill customer needs," Helmers said.

"That’s why, after evaluating the market of new aircraft in the super-midsize category, the Legacy 600 was the best choice."

The Legacy 600 features three cabin zones that accommodate up to 14 passengers; a new interior that includes the Honeywell Ovation Select, all digital, cabin management system; and a state-of-the-art system that is also available on the Legacy 650, Legacy 500 and Legacy 450.

The system features a high-definition video system and media input; iPod and iPhone docking systems; USB, HDMI, VGA and composite video ports; blu-ray player; and a 3D moving map.

In addition, there is an 8.9in touchscreen CMS control monitor for master control of video, audio, lighting, temperature and water and individual toucscreen controls throughout the cabin.

Embraer has also enhanced the cabin acoustics comfort with a 5dB SIL noise reduction, the interior storage and a new wireless handset Iridium telephone system.

The company stated that the improvements were designed to reduce workload for the pilot, as well as improve the flexibility, efficiency and safety of aircraft operations.

The cockpit has advanced avionics with the Honeywell Primus Elite, which includes LCD displays and a cursor control device (CCD). as well as charts and map capabilities and XM Weather.

Embraer also integrated VNAV and RNP 0.3 for optimising airspace use, flight time and fuel burn.

In addition, WAAS/LPV along with CPDLC FANS 1/A, which allow satcom-based ATC communications for trans-oceanic flights are available as optional as well as Smart Landing and Smart Runway surface awareness and advisory system.

The Legacy 600, which entered into service in 2002, has a range of 3,400nm and can fly with 14 passengers under NBAA IFR conditions.

To date, more than 200 Legacy 600/650 jetliners are in-service worldwide.
