US-based ONE Aviation has received type certification for its Eclipse 550 twin-engine jet from EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

The company currently has two European distributors, namely Germany’s Aeris Aviation and Netherlands’ Eelde for Eclipse 550.

ONE Aviation CEO Alan Klapmeier said: "This is a significant event for ONE Aviation and the global future of the Eclipse.

"The Eclipse perfectly fits the typical European mission profile, one that involves carrying three or four passengers a thousand nautical miles."

The company stated that it had to carry out minimal changes to the aircraft in order to meet the norms of EASA and it could be done within less than a day.

ONE Aviation said that the Eclipse 550 twin-engine jet is capable of flying at 41,000ft altitude and at a maximum speed of 430mph and consume less fuel, around 59gal/h.

Jetlounge CEO Alexandra Knorr said: "Not only can we sell into charter services, but this also opens up sales to private aviators across Europe who only want to fly an EASA certified aircraft.

"We already have sales contingent upon certification and are excited to make these deliveries early next year."

The company recently announced that it has received 20 orders for Eclipse jets from Jinggong General Aviation, which is the only distributor of Eclipse 550 and Eclipse Special Edition jets in China.
