US-based electronics manufacturing services company Ducommun has received a long-term supply contract from Boeing to continue manufacturing spoilers for the Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

Ducommun AeroStructures manufactures spoilers at its Monrovia, California operation, with support from the company’s facilities in Orange, California and Guaymas. Mexico.

The Monrovia facility specialises in the manufacture of complex metal bond and composite assemblies.

Ducommun chairman, president and chief executive officer Anthony Reardon said this contract extension reflected the company’s long-standing relationship with Boeing and supports the increasing build rates for the 737.

"Ducommun has produced spoilers for the 737 family of jets for nearly 50 years, and we’re proud to be part of the world’s best-selling commercial aircraft," Reardon said.

Boeing 737 programme was originally launched in 1966. Currently, more than 7,500 of the 737 aeroplanes are in-service, which represents more than a quarter of the worldwide fleet of large commercial jetliners in operation.

Established in 1849, Ducommun provides engineering and manufacturing services to the aerospace, defence, and other industries through a wide range of electronic and structural applications.

It operates through two primary business units, Ducommun AeroStructures (DAS) and Ducommun LaBarge Technologies (DLT).

The company is involved in design, development, manufacturing, integration and test capabilities in the areas of missiles, space, sensor, simulations, complex electronic/mechanical assemblies, illuminated cockpit displays, RF systems and space qualified motion control devices.
