Germany-based MRO services provider Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines have announced plans to set up a joint venture (JV).

The JV is intended to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul for PW1000G geared turbofan engine family.

Lockheed Martin Corporation has secured a $19.4m contract to continue to support Nasa’s orbiting observatory through next September.

Japanese airline All Nippon Airways has awarded a contract to L-3 Communications’ Commercial Training Solutions (L-3 CTS) unit for a flight training simulator.

The full flight simulator delivered by L-3 CTS will be installed at All Nippon Airways’ flight training centre in Tokyo to train the flight crew of the airline's Airbus A320 aircraft.

Hong Kong Airlines has placed a firm order with Airbus for nine A330-300 jetliners, whose deliveries are expected to begin in 2018.

Portuguese airline Azores Airlines (formerly SATA International) has agreed to acquire six Airbus A321neo aircraft from Air Lease Corporation. The aircraft deliveries will begin next year and continue through 2021.

The carrier aims to operate the new A321neos from Portugal and Azores to North American cities, as well as major cities in Western Europe.
