CDB Aviation Lease Finance (CDB Aviation) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Boeing to buy 42 737 MAX 8s, ten 737 MAX 10s and eight 787-9 Dreamliners.

Valued at $7.4bn at list prices, the latest commitment has enabled CDB Aviation to become one of the launch customers of the 737 MAX 10 aircraft, the newest addition to Boeing’s 737 MAX family.

With the deal, CDB Aviation has also converted a previously placed order for six 737 MAX 8s to ten new 737 MAX 10 aircraft.

CDB Aviation president and CEO Peter Chang said: “Our new vision is to propel CDB Aviation into a formidable global aviation leasing platform.

“The 737 MAX, the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history, and the cutting-edge 787 Dreamliner will play a key role in bolstering our fleet and advancing our global market presence to fulfil the vision.”

CDB Aviation currently operates a fleet of more than 300 aircraft.

According to Boeing, its single-aisle 737 MAX 10 aircraft has been designed to provide improved performance, flexibility and efficiency, with lower per-seat costs and an extended range.

The aircraft model features CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets, Boeing Sky Interior, large flight deck displays, and other improvements.

In a separate development, Boeing has announced that it has secured a commitment from Lion Air Group for 50 737 MAX 10 airplanes.

The newly ordered aircraft are valued at $6.24bn at list prices.
