Flight simulators manufacturer CAE has received two contracts from Azerbaijan Airlines and Turkish Airlines to supply a total of six full-flight simulators (FFS).

The simulators, including original aircraft equipment manufacturer (OEM) data, parts and equipment, are valued at $73.5m at list prices.

Azerbaijan Airlines has purchased three simulators for the Embraer 190 E-Jet, Sikorsky S92 helicopter and AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter, while Turkish Airlines is set to acquire simulators for the Boeing 737NG, Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 aircraft.

The Embraer 190 simulator for Azerbaijan Airlines is a CAE 7000 Series model and is slated to be delivered to a new building in the Azal training centre in Baku, Azerbaijan, in mid-2014.

The S92 and AW139 helicopter simulators are CAE 3000 Series models and are scheduled to be delivered in 2015.

Boeing 737NG, Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 simulators for Turkish Airlines, which are CAE 7000 Series models, will be delivered to the airline’s training centre at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

The B737NG will be delivered by the end of this year, while the Airbus simulators will be delivered in 2014.

Turkish Airlines currently operates two CAE-built simulators and is a CAE Parc Aviation customer for pilot sourcing.

These are the first six FFS sales announced by CAE for fiscal year 2014, which began in April.

CAE president and chief executive officer Marc Parent said that Turkish Airlines already uses CAE’s end-to-end portfolio of training services, including cadet training, type-rating and pilot sourcing.

"We are happy to extend our global reach to Azerbaijan and be the partner of choice of its national airline," Parent said.

In March, CAE entered into a three-year contract to train new Turkish Airlines A320 and B737NG First Officers in a programme ranging from ab-initio to type-rating training.

CAE is a provider of modelling, simulation and training for civil aviation and defence.

The company offers civil aviation, military, and helicopter training services in over 45 locations worldwide and trains approximately 100,000 crew members per annum.
